This has an interesting illustration what happens when a claim is made with pre-existing conditions come 2014 when health insurance companies can no longer screen for health conditions.  The fact is, insurance is designed to cover the cost to bring you whole again from something sudden, unpredictable and expensive.  Insurance was not designed to cover the predictable.  This video illustrates a good point about a problem we all may face come 2014 and beyond.  Watch the video.
