With the current medical trend, the rates will most likely double,

, in less than seven years. Companies will be shutting their doors while employees are filing medical bankruptcy due to the lack of control of the benefits spending.
Now I'm guessing a lot of you reading this are either looking for a solution, sat through some webinar or read white paper claiming they have the answer for you. Even your current insurance agent 'negotiates' for you on your behalf every year. That broker earned his keep by saving 5%, 8%, maybe even 10% of the increase, or more.
But yet, benefits spending is still bleeding our profits to grow the company.
Big branded insurance companies want you to think they negotiate the best deal, provide access to the best healthcare, and keep costs in check with the premiums. Even the government claims to put stop measures in place to ensure the insurance company does not charge you one penny more than they need.
I'm here to tell you, its truly one sided.
If you've ever thought that the medical system in the United States is broken, you are probably right. But not the way you think.
The US Health system aligns themselves only one way, and it's not to your favor. When the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, they included a section called the Medical Loss Ratio, or MLR. The MLR basically instructed the insurance companies how much of the premiums needed to be allotted for claims and how much for administration, operations and profits.
Sounds like a good thing, right?
Picture this, if the profits come out of the 20%, in order to profit more, the 20% needs to be higher. Inversely, the 80% will also have to grow. In order for the 80% to grow, they have to spend more on claims.
There is a financial incentive to collect more in premiums to spend more money on claims in order to profit more.
This model will lead a company into bankruptcy.
This is where it just begins. Companies are losing money in technology, overuse and abuse of the system and compliance issues.
